Nurse Educator

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Nurse Educator - Infection Prevention Specialist to join our team at The Laurels of Defiance.
Key Responsibilities- Design, plan, and provide educational programs on all shifts and for all departments.
- Participate in the staff evaluation process by providing attendance records and observation of employee performance.
- Provide general facility orientation to all new employees and ongoing in-service education.
- Plan and provide a monthly and annual schedule of planned education programs.
- Ensure Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA)/State Tested Nursing Assistants (STNA) meet the annual 12-hour in-service requirement.
- Actively participate in quality assurance and report concerns to supervisor.
- Providing on-site clinicals for STNA classes (Train the trainer certification)
- Monitor healthcare-associated infections.
- Assess infection prevention problems and make recommendations for corrective action.
- Initiate, review, and revise infection prevention policies and procedures.
- Conduct outbreak investigation and initiate control measures. And report communicable diseases to the state as required by law.
- Provides educational offerings for orientation and ongoing inservices.
- Consults with department heads and physicians as needed to improve care.
- Initiate follow-up on employee/resident exposures to communicable diseases.
- 1-3 years of experience in long-term care setting preferred
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state
- CPR certification
