Job Overview

The Cafe Service Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless dining experience for guests by managing table service and liaising with both front and back of house teams. Availability: Weekend availability is mandatory for this role, primarily covering first and second shifts.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a full-service dining environment is essential, with a preference for candidates who have at least six months of experience in an upscale or fine dining setting.
  • A strong commitment to providing outstanding guest service and the ability to anticipate and exceed guest needs.
  • Excellent communication and guest relation skills are crucial; candidates should be able to offer warm and genuine hospitality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the capability to manage various guest service scenarios in alignment with The Biltmore Company's standards.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced service environment.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Proactive mindset with sound judgment and initiative.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor consistent with The Biltmore Company's standards.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull weights between 25-50 pounds; must be able to manage large serving trays above shoulder level.
  • Significant walking or standing is required.
  • Work environment may involve exposure to physical risks, necessitating adherence to basic safety protocols.
  • May require working in varying temperature conditions, including hot environments.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Process guest orders efficiently to ensure timely preparation and delivery.
  2. Present and serve wine to guests with care.
  3. Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the dining experience, responding to requests and determining when meals are complete.
  4. Handle billing and payment transactions, directing guests to supervisors when necessary.
  5. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the menu and beverage offerings, promoting items effectively.
  6. Utilize the Point of Sale (P.O.S.) system in accordance with established guidelines.
  7. Ensure uniform is clean, pressed, and in good condition.
  8. Arrive prepared for work, adhering to uniform and footwear standards.
  9. Ensure cleanliness of cutlery, china, and glassware prior to setting tables.
  10. Assist with stocking and resetting tables as needed.
  11. Complete all side duties before the end of the shift to prepare for the next service period.
  12. Conduct oneself in alignment with the values and service standards of The Biltmore Company.
  13. Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to sanitation and health standards.
