Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Lead - Exception Handling Specialist at Clinical Pathology Laboratories, Inc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize resources to maximize productivity, prioritize tasks, and ensure quality service delivery.
  • Effectively manage the Laboratory Information System (LIS) for ordering, crediting, and tracking specimens.
  • Identify and implement proper specimen handling procedures, including tube selection, transport media, and storage temperature.
  • Provide accurate and timely information on specimen requirements, reference ranges, and stability.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve problems and improve laboratory operations.
  • Understand and adhere to test requesting, labeling, specimen storage, and retrieval procedures.
  • Monitor and track all ordered tests and analyze current work lists.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and handle inquiries efficiently.
  • Perform administrative duties, including record maintenance and data entry.
  • Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, and assist supervisors as needed.
  • Promote quality and a supportive work environment by serving as a role model for other employees.
  • Provide remedial training and escalate disciplinary issues to supervisors.
  • Perform advanced duties with minimal direction and complete other tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; three years of experience in a medical laboratory preferred.
  • State licensure, if applicable.

  • Proficiency with related software.
Physical Requirements
  • Requires manipulation of tools, objects, and equipment using various physical motions.
  • Light to medium lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Routine visual discrimination of color, size, shape, and motility.
Work Conditions

Environmentally controlled medical environment with exposure to noise. Fast-paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent situations. May come into contact with contagious pathogens and hazardous chemicals. May be required to operate fire and safety equipment or follow other safety procedures.

This role will have routine access to Protected Health Information (PHI). Employees will be trained on reasonable safeguards and are expected to maintain strict confidentiality, as well as abide by all applicable privacy and security standards. Employees are expected only to access PHI when it is required to fulfill job duties.
