Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Library Associate I to join our team at The Texas A&M University System. As a key member of our library staff, you will provide exceptional service to our clients, ensuring a positive and productive experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for library clients, providing advanced frontline user assistance in circulation, reference information, and document delivery services.
  • Instruct and inform users on the variety of available tools and their use, ensuring seamless access to library resources.
  • Serve as the library staff liaison to the Texas A&M University - Galveston campus, collaborating with librarians to manage and maintain circulation workflows, course reserves collections, technology check-out, interlibrary loan requests, and borrowing policies.
  • Supervise student employees, providing guidance and support to ensure their success in their roles.
  • Collaborate with College Station and Galveston librarians to ensure consistent and effective delivery of library services and resources.
  • Act as a resource person for Galveston library student employees, providing training and support as needed.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven years of experience in a public, academic, or specialized library or archive.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to lift or move light to medium weight boxes, books, or similar items, push a heavy book truck.
  • Ability to handle material which can contain dust or microscopic mold spores.
  • Knowledge of email, word processing, spreadsheets, and complex library online resource searches and/or processing.
  • Thorough knowledge of library functions and expert knowledge of unit functions.
  • Ability to be customer service oriented.
  • Ability to adapt to a changing working environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communications, planning, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an academic setting.
  • Ability to think critically. Good decision making.
