Library Support Specialist

Job Summary:
The Texas A&M University System is seeking a highly skilled Library Associate I to join our team. As a key member of our library staff, you will provide exceptional customer service, assist with circulation and reference services, and supervise student employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for library patrons, providing assistance with circulation, reference, and document delivery services.
- Provide advanced user support, instructing and informing users on available tools and resources.
- Supervise and train student employees, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide excellent customer service.
- Collaborate with librarians to develop and implement library programs and services.
- Work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of our patrons.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a library setting, with a focus on customer service and circulation services.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of library functions and procedures, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an academic library setting.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in a dynamic environment.
