Job Summary:

The Texas A&M University System is seeking a highly skilled Library Associate I to join our team. As a key member of our library staff, you will provide exceptional customer service, assist with circulation and reference services, and supervise student employees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for library patrons, providing assistance with circulation, reference, and document delivery services.
  • Provide advanced user support, instructing and informing users on available tools and resources.
  • Supervise and train student employees, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide excellent customer service.
  • Collaborate with librarians to develop and implement library programs and services.
  • Work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of our patrons.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a library setting, with a focus on customer service and circulation services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of library functions and procedures, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an academic library setting.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in a dynamic environment.
