Position Overview

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a Research Project Advisor with a robust background in scientific inquiry and exceptional project management skills. This position entails participating in meetings, documenting discussions, and transforming them into actionable strategies.

The Research Project Advisor collaborates closely with the Principal Investigator or Department Head to design and execute research initiatives. Responsibilities include project planning, identifying funding opportunities, crafting grant proposals, and disseminating findings for potential publication. The role also involves attending national conferences, establishing connections with potential collaborators and funding entities, and nurturing relationships with colleagues and agencies such as the National Institutes of Health.

This position is primarily hybrid, requiring the selected candidate to be onsite at least twice a week. Depending on project demands or deadlines, onsite presence may be necessary three to four times a week. Therefore, candidates must be located in the LA area.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a departmental resource for scientific projects and identify funding opportunities.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of study participation in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.
  • Independently and collaboratively develop and implement research programs, including project planning.
  • Engage in the research and academic activities of the department.
  • Draft grant proposals and assist in authoring manuscripts and presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator, demonstrating expertise in the relevant research area.
  • Represent departmental interests in collaborative research projects.
  • Maintain strong relationships with colleagues and funding agencies.
  • Exhibit superior communication skills for effective interactions with faculty and staff.
  • Attend national meetings and conferences to identify potential collaborators.
  • Undertake special projects as assigned.
  • Facilitate connections between laboratory, translational, and clinical research programs.
  • Contribute to research process improvement and quality assurance.
  • Develop educational content and coordinate scientific symposia.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and local regulations, including FDA guidelines.
  • Adhere to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient technical writing skills for document preparation.
  • Experience in drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Background in scientific research or public health.
  • Ability to take detailed notes and translate them into strategic actions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with various departments and personnel levels.
  • Familiarity with NIH processes.
  • Strong project management skills for overseeing multiple initiatives.
  • Capability to manage timelines and stakeholder expectations.
  • Knowledge of public health principles is advantageous.
