The primary objective of this role is to identify and secure economic advancement opportunities through proactive outreach to key stakeholders; fostering relationships with commercial brokers, real estate developers, corporate leaders, site selectors, and business proprietors; and delivering timely information and support that directly contributes to the attraction of new enterprises, job creation, and capital investment within the community.

This position will also engage with current businesses to support their growth and retention initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:


1. Organizes and implements the Department's business attraction strategy through proactive engagement and relationship cultivation with commercial brokers, developers, site locators, and business leaders.

2. Collaborates with existing business owners on strategies for expansion and retention.

3. Participates in promotional trips and events coordinated by state, regional, and local economic development partners.

4. Works closely with the Economic Development Director to identify potential properties and sites for new ventures.

5. Develops marketing materials including brochures and presentations.

6. Assists in evaluating the effectiveness of the Department's marketing and advertising initiatives.

Event Planning:
Designs invitations and coordinates logistics for venues, vendors, speakers, tours, awards, presentations, and press releases.

Conducts research and maintains data for various projects and reports.


Responds to inquiries and concerns from businesses in the absence of the director; keeps the director informed; assesses if director's intervention is necessary.

Serves as the Administrator of the Economic Development website; updates the Department's section on the City website.

Engages in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in Economic Development, Public Administration, Business, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Two years of professional experience in economic development, real estate, commercial marketing, or a closely related field.

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Must possess the ability to obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Work Environment:


The role involves a mix of office work, business visits within the community, attending meetings, and participating in various economic development events/functions.

In-office tasks include computer work, phone communications, data management, and documentation.


Fieldwork involves meetings with businesses, property owners, realtors, and/or developers on-site, as well as attending economic development-related events.
