HPC Systems Administrator

MITRE is seeking an experienced Linux HPC Systems engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Enterprise Information Technology Division, you will be responsible for providing Linux systems administration support for MITRE's HPC systems, ensuring the availability, performance, and security of systems.

- Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Deliver user support ranging from basic account management to applications support.
- Leverage and develop monitoring and accounting solutions that streamline administrative tasks and optimize system management.
- Assist the development and implementation of best practices, compliance standards, and security controls for all computing environments.
- Participate in an environment that emphasizes trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort.
- Work in an agile model, delivering assigned stories as part of development sprints.
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a master's degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Linux systems administration experience (3+ years)
- Software development experience in at least two of the following languages: C, C++, Perl, Python, Java, shell scripts
- Proficiency in configuration management and automation tools such as Git, Ansible, or Chef
- Hands on experience with basic computer networking and routing including troubleshooting basic internet protocols (DNS, DHCP, BOOTP, SMTP, S/FTP, HTTP/S, NFS, CIFS/SMB, PKI, TCP, UDP)
- Experience performing advanced troubleshooting and system administration with Linux Servers
- Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Only US citizens are eligible for security clearance. For this position, MITRE will consider only applicants with security clearances or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site.
- Experience in systems administration on distributed computing systems.
- Familiarity with HPC-specific resources and technologies, such as GPUs, FPGAs, MPI, Infiniband
- Experience with resource managers and schedulers for HPC clusters such as Slurm,
- Experience with Docker, Singularity, or another container technology.
- Experience with logging and monitoring tools such as Splunk.
- Experience with configuration management systems such as Chef or Ansible
- Candidates holding current / active US Government security clearance(s) are preferred.
- Experience with security compliance standards such as NIST 800-171 or CMMC for HPC systems.
