Produce Merchandiser and Inventory Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Produce Merchandiser and Inventory Specialist to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our produce department, you will be responsible for purchasing, replenishing, and merchandising produce while ensuring exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities- Purchasing and Replenishment
You will purchase and replenish produce through proper buying procedures, monitor and act upon open PO reports for both purchases and credits in an accurate and timely manner.
Inventory ControlControl spoilage and shrink, achieve turn goals, participate in inventory, complete spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets as required.
Sales and Customer ServiceMaximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for stocking and merchandising products, ensure orders for product are timely and accurate to monitor inventory turns, oversee customer special order procedure, analyze and control product transfers, waste, and spoilage.
Leadership and TeamworkSupport leadership in conducting inventories, maintain financial profitability by meeting and exceeding purchasing and sales targets, arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work, work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings, provide excellent customer service, addresses needs of customers in a timely and effective manner and models suggestive selling techniques, answer phones and pages promptly and courteously.
Equipment Maintenance and SafetyMaintain equipment in accordance with WFM cleanliness and safety standards, perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensure accuracy of signs and pricing, immediately report safety hazards and violations.
Requirements and Qualifications- Education and Experience
12+ months retail experience.
Skills and KnowledgeExtensive produce product knowledge, including production, distribution, seasonal availability, advances, and trends, familiarity and/or willingness to learn about products, nutritional information, and other areas of study, working knowledge and application of all produce-related merchandising expectations, ability to educate team on product knowledge and convey enthusiasm, strong basic math skills, knowledge and ability to use computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems, strong to excellent communication skills and willingness to work as part of a team, ability to deliver information in a clear and respectable manner to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors, ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors, and Team Members, ability to follow directions and procedures, effective time management and organization skills, passion for natural foods and the mission of Whole Foods Market, strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency, understanding of and compliance with WFM quality goals.
BenefitsWhole Foods Market offers a competitive salary range of $21.00 - $31.50 hourly, commensurate with experience, and provides "Whole Benefits" which include health insurance, retirement plan benefits, eligibility for a store discount, paid time off, and access to other benefit programs, eligibility for Whole Benefits is determined under the terms of the applicable Whole Benefits plan at a person's date of hire.
