What You Will Accomplish

We are looking for a highly skilled Scientist specializing in oncology to become a vital member of the in vivo Tumor Biology Translational Sciences team within Oncology Research & Development. The successful candidate will engage with a collaborative group of scientists and take a pivotal role in utilizing cancer models to assess innovative drug candidates, mechanisms, and therapeutic targets.

The Scientist will be involved in pre-clinical drug discovery and development initiatives, concentrating on tumor intrinsic biology associated with signal transduction, targeted therapies, and epigenetic modifications. The selected candidate will leverage and enhance advanced in vivo mouse and human cancer models to evaluate and characterize both large and small molecules, working closely with partner teams as an essential contributor to drug discovery efforts. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a collaborative spirit, exceptional communication, leadership, and organizational capabilities, along with a strong commitment to excellence.

How You Will Achieve This

  • Design, implement, and interpret in vivo pharmacology studies.
  • Develop and characterize novel in vivo mouse models, including syngeneic tumor and genetically engineered mouse models (GEMMs), to investigate biological mechanisms and facilitate the exploration of new therapies.
  • Conduct in vivo experiments to assess and establish efficacy, pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics relationships, combination strategies, and biomarker identification and analysis.
  • Perform supplementary in vitro and ex vivo assays to evaluate the effects of experimental treatments, which may include Western Blot, qPCR, scRNAseq, or other necessary assays.
  • Ensure high-quality documentation and interpretation of experimental findings.
  • Present results within a multidisciplinary team context.
  • Guarantee the ethical use of animals in accordance with all regulatory standards and internal protocols.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Tumor Biology, Oncology, or a related field, with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with at least 4 years of experience.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of oncology research, drug discovery, and development processes.
  • Experience with animal models of human cancers, including hands-on in vivo skills (IV, PO, SC, IP dosing), and blood/tissue collection.
  • Ability to stay informed about novel scientific or technological advancements and apply them in the laboratory setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and capacity to work effectively in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and diverse team environment.
  • Capability to contribute to a vibrant and intellectually stimulating atmosphere.
  • Ability to integrate biological principles into experimental frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ex vivo skills such as Western blot and qPCR.
  • Familiarity with GraphPad Prism and/or Studylog.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to lift, sit, stand, walk, bend, perform mathematical calculations, and conduct complex data analysis.
  • Must be capable of wearing specialized protective clothing and personal protective equipment (lab coat, safety shoes/glasses, etc.).
