Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced RN Surgery Coordinator to join our Perioperative team at Carle Health. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the operation of the daily surgery schedule, ensuring the efficient utilization of operating rooms and personnel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and Supervise Daily Surgery Schedule: Ensure the smooth operation of the daily surgery schedule, including case assignment, room and personnel assignments.
  • Assume Responsibility for Department Operations: Assume responsibility for the operation of the Surgery Department, Sterilization Department, and Endoscopy Department when the Manager is not present.
  • Monitor Case Progression: Monitor case progression to identify potential schedule changes and ensure the most efficient utilization of operating rooms.
  • Assign and Coordinate Personnel and Facilities: Assign, coordinate, and monitor the utilization of personnel and facilities to ensure adequate staff availability for scheduled caseload.
  • Collaborate with Charge Anesthesiologist: Collaborate with the charge anesthesiologist to ensure that the schedule runs efficiently in accordance with policies and protocols.
  • Provide Leadership and Assistance: Provide leadership and assistance to staff to ensure departmental objectives and assignments are accomplished as scheduled.
  • Market Department Services: Market department services and equipment to physicians and other stakeholders.
  • Evaluate Patient Care: Evaluate the level of patient care delivered in the operating room and recommend changes to ensure compliance with established standards of nursing care.
Requirements
  • Education: College Diploma in Nursing.
  • Certification and Licensure: Registered Professional Nurse (RN) License upon hire and BLS within 30 days of hire.
  • Experience: 2 years' experience specific to patient population.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Fluent English language skills, basic computer knowledge, multicultural sensitivity, critical thinking skills, and ability to work independently.
Working Conditions
  • Work Environment: The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, requiring strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel to other facilities or hospitals may be required.
  • Driving Requirements: The ability to drive a vehicle for business purposes is required.
