Position Overview
The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in cultivating a supportive and enriching atmosphere for volunteers within a designated area. This position focuses on delivering genuine and responsive volunteer assistance, mentorship, training, leadership development, programming support, and outstanding customer service. The coordinator will leverage our customer relationship management system to facilitate and document interactions with volunteers.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication and organizational abilities, a strong commitment to building a leadership community, and the capacity to inspire and motivate volunteers. Proficiency in CRM systems and a dedication to enhancing volunteer satisfaction and effectiveness are essential.
Position Type: Hourly/Non-Exempt
Compensation Range: $17-$23 per hour
Expected Work Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver authentic and responsive volunteer support, including mentoring, training, leadership development, programming assistance, and customer service.
- Utilize the customer relationship management system to document and facilitate volunteer interactions within a specified area.
- Ensure volunteers feel valued, supported, and prepared to provide the Girl Scout Leadership Experience.
- Annually review and update resource documents to guarantee members have access to the most accurate safety and regulatory standards.
- Support individually registered Girl Scouts and their families.
- Maintain high engagement levels with troop volunteers through various communication methods to strengthen volunteer support.
- Ensure troops and volunteers receive necessary training and resources, verifying that all volunteers have approved background checks on file.
- Collaborate with the Community Development Manager to:
- Recruit, onboard, and train service unit volunteers who align well with their roles.
- Regularly assess and enhance the engagement of service unit leadership volunteers, developing and executing strategies to strengthen the volunteer community network.
- Guide Service Units in establishing and maintaining effective regional teams.
- Ensure service unit volunteers have the information, tools, and resources required to support troop leaders and grow membership.
- Engage caregivers to take on troop leadership roles, including Troop Co-Leaders and Troop Support, in collaboration with Community Engagement.
- Exhibit a strong belief in the mission and values of Girl Scouting, adhering to the principles outlined in the Promise and Law, as well as the mission, vision, and values of Wisconsin Badgerland Girl Scouts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- A minimum of three years of experience in developing and implementing training programs, preferably in a nonprofit or volunteer-focused organization.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with youth and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong active listening skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving and conflict resolution.
- Experience in supervising and managing volunteers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey the impact of the Girl Scout mission compellingly.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Salesforce is preferred.
- Ability to plan, organize, and implement a diverse workload while meeting deadlines and managing pressure.
- Capability to work independently with minimal oversight, demonstrating initiative and self-management in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to effectively represent Badgerland to key internal and external audiences.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Passion for encouraging volunteers to engage with youth.
- Bilingual skills, particularly in Spanish, are a plus.
- Must be or become a registered member of the Girl Scouts of the United States of America and possess a working knowledge of Girl Scout philosophy and programming.
Additional Requirements
- Anticipated travel away from the office is less than 35%.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
- Ability to work both in an office environment and independently as needed.
- Willingness to work occasional weekends, evenings, and overnight trips.
