Job Title: Assoc Tax Consultant

Compeer Financial is seeking a collaborative and innovative professional to join our team as an Associate Tax Consultant.

Job Summary:

This role provides tax preparation, planning, and consulting support for clients and the Tax and Accounting team. The successful candidate will build relationships with clients, offer tax and accounting knowledge and services, and work under the direct mentoring of a Senior Tax Consultant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform tax estimates and prepare income tax returns for clients in a timely manner, adhering to IRS code requirements and Compeer policies and procedures.
  • Research and present tax planning opportunities for client portfolios under the guidance of a Senior Tax Consultant.
  • Maintain an established portfolio of tax clients.
  • Partner with Senior Tax Consultants during transition meetings.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for tax interns during tax season.
  • Collect on delinquent client accounts.
  • Process accounting transactions in a timely manner and in accordance with GAAP and Compeer policies and procedures.
  • Provide accurate and timely accounting processing and delivery of financial statements to clients.
  • Responsible for less complex accounting accounts, including depreciation, payroll processing, and full-service accounts.
  • Actively learn all aspects of tax planning and preparation.
  • Seek out and participate in opportunities for self-development of technical knowledge, business management, tax law, or interpersonal skills.
  • Provide answers and expertise to Compeer team members and clients related to tax and accounting.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of tax preparation experience preferred.
  • Progressively gain more knowledge of Compeer's products, services, and farm tax principles.
  • Knowledge, technical competency, and technological effectiveness in tax planning and preparation that meets client needs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and organization.
  • Exercises a high level of ethical and professional judgment.
  • High level of integrity.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications and tax and accounting software.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • Analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends to meet deadlines and client expectations.
  • Some travel required to conduct on-farm services, attend department meetings, and continuing education opportunities.
