Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Master Electrician to join our team at Webber. As a key member of our infrastructure management team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems for provincial highways and facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including flashing beacons and lighting systems, in accordance with standards and conditions specified in the contract.
  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair multi-level highway and facility electrical systems, highway illumination systems, electronic message signs, high and low voltage power distribution equipment, and solar systems.
  • Use advanced troubleshooting skills to accurately perform maintenance and fault diagnostics required to ensure uninterrupted services to the operating systems.
  • Ensure safe traffic control by setting up and removing traffic control devices in accordance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
Requirements
  • Ability to cooperate and communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisor.
  • Ability to consistently follow company and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions and understand instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, electrical system plans, and procedure manuals.
  • Familiarity with hand tools and specialty power equipment.
  • Capability of working in an environment with changing demands and priorities.
  • Ability to speak and understand Basic English.
  • Highly developed sense of safety awareness and perceptive ability.
  • Ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks and make adjustments to avoid loss, injury, or accident.
  • Ability to communicate safety instructions to co-workers.
  • Ability to think clearly and focus on safety in immediate surroundings while using tools and equipment, driving, or operating equipment.
  • Valid US Driver's License and Master Electrician License required.
  • Certified for operation of aerial devices used for electrical work.
  • Current certificate of training from a manufacturer of high mast lighting raising and lowering devices.
  • Successful completion of the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA) Cable Locating Course or the manufacturer course for their specific device.
Work Environment

Routine exposure to outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, high precarious places, fume or airborne particles. Frequent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. Frequent exposure to insects and infrequent exposure to reptiles/rodents. The work environment noise level is usually moderate but on occasion can be more than moderate.
