The HCA Nurse Residency Program is a comprehensive year-long initiative aimed at providing you with practical experience to cultivate essential clinical and analytical skills. As a Graduate Nurse Resident, you will be immersed in a nurturing environment with nurse educators, seasoned nurses, and fellow residents who foster learning, clinical practice, and camaraderie, guiding you through your transition from student to registered nurse.

Role Responsibilities and Qualifications

The HCA Nurse Residency Program at Methodist Hospital Specialty and Transplant equips you with the necessary tools to thrive in a modern healthcare setting. This compensated program will facilitate your transition from academic learning to practical application through a structured series of educational experiences, including:

  • Specialized clinical training in a designated area.
  • Monthly learning sessions.
  • Preceptorship with an experienced facility mentor.
  • Skill assessment through practical simulations.
  • Guidance from seasoned nursing leaders.
  • Collaborative work on evidence-based practice initiatives.

The RN Resident is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-focused care in alignment with departmental standards and practices. Collaborating with medical professionals and the care team, the RN Resident provides personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing frameworks.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Evaluating patient conditions upon admission and throughout shifts, reporting any changes in status.
  • Executing medical procedures and documenting care in patient records accurately and promptly.
  • Administering prescribed medications and monitoring patient responses.
  • Providing exceptional service by promptly addressing patient needs and anticipating their requirements.
  • Educating patients and families about medical conditions, treatment plans, and follow-up care.

Required Qualifications:

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within the first year of employment.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • Valid Registered Nurse License or Graduate Nurse status in the state.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Potential travel for training may be necessary.
