Overview

The American Heart Association is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our Development Team. As a key member of our team, you will assist in the implementation of a sustainable culture of health within diverse and vulnerable communities in the Huntsville, AL Market.

Responsibilities
  • Support event planning and coordination with Event Coordinators and Development Directors
  • Assist with pre-event planning and projects related to events within the market
  • Work alongside Volunteers to support committees related to core campaigns
  • Provide donor stewardship and support Serve Day actions
  • Email and call external vendors to support event-related tasks
  • Work within event support systems, including Luminate and Event.Gives
  • Develop collateral for events, including save the dates, invitations, and programs
  • Help with volunteer recruitment and management
  • Plan social media content for core events and Serve events during centennial celebrations
  • Recruit volunteers on campus and support Health Fairs as needed
Qualifications
  • Seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or event planning/management
  • Ability to travel locally and have a reliable means of transportation
  • Ability to work professionally in corporate and non-profit environments
  • Comfortable making cold calls to donors and potential supporters
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and Canva
  • Strong leadership experience and effective communication skills

The American Heart Association offers a competitive compensation package, including a salary of $23.00 per hour. Interns will also have access to our award-winning corporate university, Heart U, as well as training and support locally and through our National Center.
