Overview
Based in McPherson, the United Way of McPherson County (UWMC) is dedicated to serving the local community, which encompasses numerous townships and cities, catering to a population of approximately 30,000 residents. The UWMC is eager to collaborate with a leader who exhibits a proven track record in providing visionary and strategic leadership within both community and organizational contexts.

Core Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Board to ensure mission fulfillment through a comprehensive multi-year strategic framework.
  • Develop critical action plans and performance metrics to monitor and report on the achievement of strategic objectives.
  • Lead the execution of strategic initiatives, holding responsible parties accountable for meeting performance benchmarks and milestones.
FUNDRAISING, COMMUNICATIONS, AND COMMUNITY PRESENCE
  • Create opportunities for donors, volunteers, and advocates to engage meaningfully with causes they are passionate about.
  • Strengthen and diversify funding sources, including establishing fundraising targets, and actively involve all staff and Board members in advocacy and solicitations.
  • Engage in public speaking and community outreach to enhance visibility and support for the UWMC.
  • Increase public awareness of the UWMC, ensuring that its mission, values, and initiatives are effectively communicated through various channels.
MANAGEMENT, FINANCE, AND ADMINISTRATION
  • Ensure efficient organization and administration of daily operations and programs, adhering to relevant regulations.
  • Maintain the organization's financial health, ensuring compliance with a Board-approved budget and fostering transparency and accountability.
  • Oversee annual campaign reconciliations and the collection of pledge receivables.
  • Establish partnerships with local, regional, and other organizations as appropriate.
  • Assist in managing events and initiatives sponsored by the UWMC.
  • Ensure compliance with United Way Worldwide standards and reporting requirements.
BOARD ENGAGEMENT
  • Familiarize yourself with and promote the organization's Governance Policies; develop and implement policies and objectives while maintaining ongoing communication with the Board.
  • Coordinate efforts with the Board Chair and Executive Committee to manage regular and ad hoc committees, including developing meeting agendas and reports.
  • Support the Board in identifying and recruiting new members who align with the organization's mission and community needs.
PARTNER AGENCY RELATIONS
  • Foster mutual respect and collaboration between UWMC and Partner Agencies.
  • Establish clear performance expectations for agency compliance.
  • Facilitate an efficient allocation process to advance community impact outcomes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, social sciences, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a non-profit or relevant environment; familiarity with Microsoft Office and QuickBooks Online.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with advanced education in non-profit management or human services, leadership experience, strong community ties, and bilingual abilities.
