Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated 3rd-5th grade multi-age classroom teacher to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. As a collaborative educator, you will be responsible for creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment that fosters academic excellence and social growth in our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that integrates student voice and choice with state standards and school-wide theme objectives.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, assignments, and projects, and measure and analyze ongoing progress.
  • Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting magnet school objectives in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Establish and maintain standards of appropriate student behavior and discipline to achieve a vibrant learning atmosphere in the classroom.
  • Evaluate and communicate the learning progress of students on a regular basis.
  • Administer group standardized tests in accordance with the District testing program.
  • Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning students' academic, social, and behavioral progress.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Current New Mexico teaching certificate in specified field
  • Current endorsements dependent upon specific positions may be required

  • Effective communication skills, verbal, written, and digital
  • Flexibility, organization, decision making, professional collaboration, innovative, personable, and problem solving skills
  • Interpersonal skills with diverse populations in-person, on the telephone, and in digital communication
  • Knowledge and application of APS community, computer system, financial procedures, and legal requirements
  • Ability to meet deadlines, work on multiple projects, and coordinate the work of others
