Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Support Specialist to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. The successful candidate will provide support to the first-grade classroom, working closely with the teacher to ensure a positive and productive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Classroom Support: Assist the teacher in implementing lesson plans, reinforcing material, and developing students' language and behavior.
  • Resource Management: Collect, prepare, and arrange resource materials for use by certified personnel.
  • Student Monitoring: Monitor student activities in the classroom, school grounds, hallways, lunchrooms, and during field trips.
  • Administrative Tasks: Maintain classroom records, prepare reports, score tests, process books, manage supplies, and perform other administrative duties as needed.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with students, teachers, parents, and other staff members to ensure a smooth and efficient learning environment.
Essential Functions
  • Compliance: Comply with state-approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and uphold and enforce rules, administrative directives, and regulations.
  • Mission Implementation: Articulate and facilitate the implementation of the mission and values of Albuquerque Public Schools.
  • Confidentiality: Safeguard the confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Record Keeping: Prepare and maintain accurate and complete records and reports as required by law, state directives, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Inventory Management: Share responsibility for the supervision and care of district inventory, proper and safe use of facilities, equipment, and supplies, and report safety hazards promptly.
  • Professional Development: Maintain professional relationships and work cooperatively with employees, the community, and other professionals.
  • Training and Development: Maintain professional competence through individual and staff training, in-service educational activities, and self-selected professional growth activities.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Licensure: Licensure based on State Department of Education Regulation No. 90-5.
  • Physical Examination: Satisfactory completion of physical examination.
