Job Title: Computational Protein Design

We are seeking a highly skilled Computational Protein Design professional to join our team at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will contribute to the development of next-generation, machine learning-driven computational pipelines for protein design and optimization.

Job Summary

This is a postdoctoral appointment with the possibility of extension to a maximum of three years. We are looking for a talented individual with a strong background in machine learning, computational biology, or a related field. The successful candidate will have experience developing and applying algorithms in machine learning areas such as protein structure machine learning, deep learning, and unsupervised feature learning.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement deep learning models and algorithms using modern software libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar.
  • Work closely with project scientists and engineers to evaluate and implement computational frameworks optimized for protein design tasks.
  • Contribute to the development of analysis methodologies and analyze data to document research through presentations and peer-reviewed journal articles.
  • Support technical activities for new capability development and technical problem solving.
  • Publish research results in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present results at conferences, seminars, and meetings.
Qualifications
  • PhD in Machine Learning, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Fundamental knowledge and/or experience developing and applying algorithms in machine learning areas such as protein structure machine learning, deep learning, and unsupervised feature learning.
  • Experience working with protein structures and domain knowledge in bioinformatics and protein structure modeling sufficient to communicate effectively with team members.
  • Ability to travel.
