Compensation Range:

$112,800 - $124,596

Position Overview

We are seeking multiple Postdoctoral Researchers to become integral members of our interdisciplinary team focused on Computational Bioengineering. The selected candidates will engage in pioneering research aimed at developing a cutting-edge, machine learning-based computational framework for protein design and enhancing protein-protein interactions within the Center for Predictive Bioresilience (CPB).

This role involves collaboration with a diverse team of experts in machine learning, molecular simulation, optimization, and protein structure bioinformatics. You will work closely with experimental teams to generate extensive datasets through innovative high-throughput assays, which will inform the development of predictive models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project scientists and engineers to evaluate and implement computational frameworks tailored for protein design tasks.
  • Contribute to the formulation of analytical methodologies; analyze research data; and document findings through presentations and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Support the development of new capabilities and engage in technical problem-solving.
  • Ensure quality standards for project deliverables and document methodologies.
  • Publish research outcomes in scientific journals and present findings at conferences and seminars.
  • Travel as necessary to coordinate research efforts with collaborators.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Machine Learning, Computational Biology, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Solid understanding and/or experience in developing algorithms in areas such as protein structure machine learning, deep learning, and active learning.
  • Proficiency in creating and implementing deep learning models using contemporary software libraries like PyTorch or TensorFlow, demonstrated through publications or software projects.
  • Experience with protein structures and a solid foundation in bioinformatics and protein structure modeling to facilitate effective communication with team members.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and project managers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and presentation of technical information.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance, requiring U.S. Citizenship.
  • In-depth knowledge of protein structure bioinformatics and prediction techniques.
  • Experience with high-performance computing, GPU programming, and cloud computing.

Additional Information

This position is a Postdoctoral appointment with the potential for extension up to three years, available to candidates who have obtained their PhD at the time of hire.
