About the Job

This is a challenging and rewarding role for a skilled Maintenance Technician II to join the Hidalgo Co. team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our buildings and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and Repair Work: Perform routine maintenance and repair work on buildings, equipment, and systems, including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Hand Tool Operations: Use hand tools to perform tasks such as digging, tamping, and packing dirt, gravel, or asphalt.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate motorized equipment such as trucks, chainsaws, and lawn mowers.
  • Welding and Cutting: Perform welding, brazing, and cutting using gas and electric welding equipment.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Experience: One year of experience in building maintenance and repair work.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Current valid Texas motor vehicle operator's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual: Ability to converse fluently in Spanish and English.
  • Knowledge of Hand Tools: Basic knowledge of hand tools associated with manual labor and minor repair of equipment.
