About the Role

Gaston County, NC is seeking a skilled Maintenance Aide to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our parks and recreational facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain restrooms, pick up litter, and empty trash cans
  • Prepare athletic fields for daily use, including applying field conditioner, raking, and marking lines
  • Respond to inquiries and assist park visitors
  • Operate various motorized vehicles and power horticulture equipment as needed
  • Assist with special events in parks, including directing cars, setting up tents and stages, and other tasks as necessary
  • Perform landscaping duties, such as pruning, trimming, and removing trees as needed
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalency desired
  • Experience in parks and recreation or building and grounds maintenance preferred
  • Valid driver's license, without driving restrictions, required
Working Conditions

This is a half-time position, working less than 20 hours per week. You will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions and may be exposed to heavy amounts of dust.
