About the Role

CommonSpirit Health is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Counsel to join our team as a System Director Corporate Counsel. This role will provide direct, specialty-specific, high-level legal services and serve as a thought-leader and trusted advisor to our national groups and operating regions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Direct Legal Services: Perform high-level legal services for CommonSpirit in connection with employment law, including preparation, review, and revision of complex contracts and arrangements, assistance in developing policies and protocols, and management of internal and governmental reviews and audits.
  • Enhance Subject Matter Expertise: Develop and maintain expertise in employment law, serving as a legal subject matter expert capable of providing sophisticated advice and counsel to business owners and the Legal Team.
  • Collaborate with the Legal Team: Actively engage and coordinate with other Legal Team members for effective delivery of uniform legal services across the enterprise.
  • Manage Outside Counsel: Manage and evaluate outside counsel engaged to provide employment law support.
  • Assist with Litigation and Regulatory Matters: Manage and assist with employment law-related litigation, administrative proceedings, and regulatory matters.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Juris Doctor or equivalent degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association, with a minimum of five years of legal work experience involving the performance of general, operational, or specialty legal services for hospitals, health systems, or integrated delivery systems.
  • Licensure and Certifications: Active State Bar licensure, registration as in-house counsel, or equivalent acceptable status for the state of primary work location.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong decision-making skills and judgment, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong drafting skills, understanding of confidentiality obligations, effective interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently and manage a diverse workflow.
