Overview

This role qualifies for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), which offers reimbursement for student loan payments. Candidates must satisfy specific eligibility criteria in line with VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within the designated timeframe. Key Responsibilities

Contractual Obligations: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting

The Facility Associate Chief of Staff collaborates with the Chief of Staff, Director, Deputy Director, Associate Director for Patient Care Services, and the Associate Director as a member of the Medical Center Executive Leadership Team. This role involves working closely with Fiscal Services, Business Office, and Human Resources Management Services. Responsibilities include overseeing the medical staff to ensure clinical excellence, standardization of practices, education, and research. The Associate Chief of Staff assists the Chief of Staff with various VHA clinical and administrative directives, ensuring proper translation into local policies and execution.

The position also entails ensuring the quality, appropriateness, and timeliness of patient care delivered by all medical staff members. Responsibilities include directing medical staff functions and committees, adhering to medical staff bylaws, and overseeing credentialing and privileging processes.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement.

Basic Requirements:
  • United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Experience:
  • More than one year of Management/Leadership experience within a complex Medical Center.
Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard.

Physical Requirements: Applicants must meet physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to placement is required. This is a designated drug testing position.

Education
