About the Role:
The Environmental Services Associate plays a crucial role in ensuring a clean and healthy environment for clients by maintaining designated areas in a sanitary, safe, and organized manner.
Responsibilities include advising supervisors on the needs for environmental services equipment and ensuring that waste disposal services are conducted as scheduled.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute specific cleaning and custodial duties to uphold the sanitation and cleanliness of the facility. Daily tasks include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, polishing fixtures, and cleaning restrooms.
- Thoroughly clean facility rooms, bathrooms, laboratories, offices, and hallways. Utilize equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, and carpet cleaners as necessary.
- Wash bed frames, clean mattresses, and remake beds following client discharges, when applicable.
- Maintain utility and storage areas in an orderly fashion.
- Operate commercial laundry machines. Launder soiled linens as directed.
- Adhere to infection control standards, transporting soiled linens to designated areas and distributing cleaned items.
- Perform floor care including sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing while ensuring safety to prevent slips and falls.
- Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies. Dust furniture and equipment regularly.
- Wash walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, and door panels.
- Empty waste receptacles and transport trash to disposal areas.
- Disinfect rooms, furniture, fixtures, and equipment using appropriate cleaning processes and germicides.
- Conduct daily inventory checks of cleaning supplies and linen closets to ensure adequate stock.
- Properly clean and store all equipment and supplies after each shift.
- Follow standard precautions and environmental safety guidelines, including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for materials used during tasks.
- Prepare rooms for meetings and arrange furniture and decorations for facility events.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- Prior experience in housekeeping within a commercial, clinical, or healthcare setting is advantageous.
- Basic reading, writing, and speaking skills in English are required to follow and provide instructions.
- CPR and de-escalation training may be required (training provided upon hire).
- First aid certification may be necessary based on state or facility requirements.
