Job Summary:

The Good Samaritan Society is seeking a Part-Time Housekeeping Assistant to join our team. As a Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment for our residents.

Responsibilities:

  • Follows routine cleaning schedules to ensure a clean and safe environment for residents
  • Cleans floors, walls, doors, furniture, and other surfaces to maintain a high level of cleanliness
  • Dusts and cleans furniture, bed frames, mattresses, toilets, sinks, and bathroom vents
  • Empties and cleans wastebaskets and ensures drapes and privacy curtains are free of dust and dirt
  • Follows special cleaning procedures as assigned and necessary, including discharge cleaning and isolation cleaning
  • Keeps residents' items and call lights within reach per residents' preference and location policy
  • Monitors and reports lingering odors throughout the location and takes corrective action to prevent odors from lingering
  • Offers residents choices and options for times to have their room cleaned and respects and reports residents' refusals
  • Completes documentation on appropriate forms as assigned and gets to know residents by name and specific communication needs
  • Utilizes appropriate communication techniques with residents per care plan and explains procedures to residents before and during cleaning, unless disruptive for the resident
  • Completes quality improvement audits and participates in task forces and center/campus care conferences as assigned
  • Keeps chemicals secured in a locked area as per policy and adheres to OSHA and CDC guidelines to minimize infections by following aseptic cleaning techniques, including those that apply to blood-borne pathogens

Qualifications:

  • Prior work experience may not be required to be hired into this job
  • Basic ability to communicate and comprehend
