Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will deliver care to assigned residents in a compassionate, secure, and efficient manner, adhering to established standards, procedures, and personalized resident care plans.
- Conduct thorough nursing assessments for all residents upon admission and continuously as per state and federal regulations, utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation).
- Exhibit proficiency in clinical skills as outlined in the Competency Verification and Training Checklist.
- Ensure residents receive prescribed medications, treatments, and procedures promptly, following appropriate infection control protocols.
- Demonstrate understanding of the therapeutic effects and potential side effects of all administered medications.
- Acquire necessary equipment and supplies to provide effective care.
- Follow procedures for managing pressure ulcers, dehydration, malnutrition, incontinence, pain, and medication administration.
- Accurately perform glucometer testing and control monitoring in accordance with established procedures.
- Implement tailored approaches to address behavioral issues and enhance residents' emotional well-being as per their care plans.
- Ensure comprehensive documentation of resident care is maintained and updated as necessary.
- Utilize the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system accurately, documenting all actions and observations related to changes in resident conditions in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Document all actions taken regarding admissions, discharges, transfers, or deaths, as well as incidents or accidents in resident records and necessary forms.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including audits and corrective actions as assigned.
- Complete assigned sections of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) for Nursing and sign MDS forms to confirm the completion of the process.
- Process physician's orders and ensure timely communication with physicians.
- Attend or obtain resident reports prior to starting shifts, sharing information and observing residents' conditions.
- Respond promptly to resident call lights and assist with resident and family education.
- Notify families of any changes in resident conditions and ensure timely follow-up on signs or symptoms of infections.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Maintain required certifications and qualifications as per associated standards.
- Licensure for the state of practice is mandatory.
- Knowledge of fundamental nursing skills and familiarity with the therapeutic effects and side effects of all medications administered is essential.
