Duties

Summary

Employees at correctional facilities engage in correctional work across various occupations.

Responsibilities

You will be fully accountable for the planning, coordination, and review of all Food Service programs within institutions or farm operations in the region.

Your role includes:

  • Regularly assessing the operations and activities of Food Service departments to ensure program performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Consulting and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams for program development and space utilization.
  • Conducting technical assistance to optimize staff, space, budgets, and related areas.
  • Reviewing policy deficiencies and recommending corrective measures while monitoring implementation.
  • Managing the Food Service department's budget and advising on allocation levels based on various factors.
  • Analyzing trends and emerging needs to evaluate service effectiveness and preparing comprehensive reports with recommendations.
  • Developing policies and providing expert guidance in correctional specialties.

Occasional travel may be necessary for training purposes.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualification requirements:

Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position.

Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level is required. This experience must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for the role, particularly in:

  • Food preparation and serving.
  • Understanding prices, dietetics, food grades, and meal planning.
  • Planning culinary activities to meet meal schedules.
  • Supervising and training personnel in food preparation and serving.
  • Preparing relevant records and reports.

Qualifying experience must involve preparing and serving food in large quantities. Please ensure to provide accurate details of your experience.

Additional Information

This position is not included in the bargaining unit.

The representative rate for this position is $110,178 per annum ($52.79 per hour).

Special Conditions of Employment Section:

Initial appointment to a supervisory/managerial position requires a one-year probationary period. The incumbent may be subject to geographic relocation based on agency needs.

Appointment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a urinalysis, physical, and background investigation.

Additional selections may be made if vacancies occur within the life of the certificate.
