Accounts Payable Specialist

Commonwealth Care of Roanoke, Inc. is seeking a skilled Accounts Payable Specialist to join our accounting team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for processing accounts payable accurately and timely to ensure the Accounts Payable ledger remains current.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Enter invoices into accounts payable system accurately and timely
  • Perform period end closing duties for accounts payable
  • Code general administration invoices
  • Distribute invoices to managers for coding and approval
  • Verify accuracy and coding of vendor invoices received from managers and ensure proper backup is attached
  • Ensure all invoices are approved prior to entering the accounts into payable system
  • Work with vendors on past due and missing invoices
  • Reconcile vendor statements
  • Track monthly expenses and provide Accountants documentation for month-end accruals
  • Maintain knowledge of accounts payable system; attend training as required
  • Provide an up-to-date cash requirement report to the CFO every Tuesday/Wednesday and as requested
  • Print and mail checks weekly for invoices selected for payment by CFO
  • Pull information for audits and other requests as needed
  • Support other office staff as necessary
  • Attend meetings, workshops and seminars as deemed necessary or as requested and approved
  • Maintain and gain thorough knowledge of Policies and Procedures related to position
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller/CFO
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Accounting Principals
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in an Accounting related field
  • Must be proficient with computers, Microsoft Excel and other computer-based programs as well as 10-key
  • Must have good communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to multi-task
