Collaborate with project managers to address engineering challenges on various projects. Assess and provide feedback on engineering outputs from external architectural and engineering firms. Engage with all project team members throughout the phases of planning, design, construction, and warranty. Offer post-project facility engineering consultation and support. Deliver design, analysis, and field engineering assistance for selected projects and facilities programs. Extend facilities engineering support to operations, maintenance staff, and other departments as needed. Contribute to condition assessment efforts as part of the building condition assessment initiative. Assist in the development and maintenance of institutional design standards.
As the Senior Mechanical Engineering Leader, you will provide expert-level mechanical project engineering support, encompassing all responsibilities outlined for the Lead Mechanical Engineer.
This position is a dual-level opportunity, with the hiring manager determining the appropriate level based on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

The Capital Asset Management department, part of Administrative Operations, supports the university by providing safe, reliable, and transformative services. This department is responsible for the planning, design, and delivery of capital construction projects, collaborating with architects, engineers, contractors, and other internal departments to meet the needs of the campus community. The engineering team within Capital Asset Management comprises dynamic experts who deliver project engineering, facilities engineering, consultation, and condition assessment services.

What We're Looking For:
We seek candidates who possess:
- A Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology with a mechanical focus.
- Indiana PE Registration or the ability to obtain it within a specified timeframe.
- A minimum of four (4) years of post-PE registration experience in mechanical engineering, including design, analysis, condition assessment, project engineering, and facilities engineering experience in building mechanical systems.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of post-PE registration experience in mechanical engineering, with similar qualifications as above.
- Experience with HVAC system commissioning and control strategies.
- Knowledge of energy-efficient design concepts.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or Microstation drafting.
For both the Senior and Principal Mechanical Engineering roles, candidates should demonstrate:
- Thorough knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, and materials used in engineering operations.
- The ability to relate abstract concepts to practical needs and adopt effective actions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Sound engineering judgment and leadership capabilities to develop well-reasoned solutions.
- Proven ability to perform complex self-directed activities without oversight.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Competence in applying engineering principles to real-world problems and using engineering tools and software.
