Leidos is seeking a Lead Cybersecurity Assurance Engineer to join our team. This role involves collaborating with a skilled group of IT specialists to uphold a secure cloud infrastructure for vital defense customer systems.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Cybersecurity Assurance Engineer is tasked with safeguarding information and managing risks associated with the use, processing, storage, and transmission of data. This includes ensuring the integrity, availability, authenticity, non-repudiation, and confidentiality of defense-related information and systems, adhering to the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to secure and maintain the Authority to Operate (ATO).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess software and hardware during pre-acquisition phases to ensure compliance with minimum security standards based on NIST SP Rev4 security controls.
  • Draft, review, coordinate, and submit necessary cybersecurity authorization artifacts to eMASS, including change requests, to meet project milestones such as Interim Authority to Test (IATT) and Authorization to Operate (ATO).
  • Assist in executing cybersecurity authorization activities in accordance with current Cybersecurity and Information Assurance manuals, instructions, and guidelines.
  • Continuously monitor system resources through automated scanning and implement reporting mechanisms to support cybersecurity authorizations.
  • Verify compliance with patch management using approved technical solutions, such as Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) dashboards.
  • Collaborate with local administrators to resolve patching issues promptly to meet compliance timelines.
  • Implement security protocols and verify information system security requirements, including managing the execution and review of STIG checklists for various systems and applications.
  • Independently create and maintain system security documentation, including drafting and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Tactics, Techniques, & Procedures (TTP), and Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M).
  • Engage in regular briefings with stakeholders on cybersecurity status, preparing relevant materials, and working closely with government Cyber and technical teams to fulfill ATO conditions.
  • Develop and apply business processes to ensure adequate security measures are in place.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:

  • A DoD Secret clearance is required prior to employment (Interim Secret clearance is acceptable).

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience in Information Assurance, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years in related roles focused on RMF.
  • Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT Level II baseline certification (e.g., CCNA Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP).
  • Must possess and maintain eMASS certification.
  • A comprehensive technical background and expertise in cybersecurity implementation.
  • In-depth knowledge of NIST SP 800-37, NIST 800-53, ICD 503, CNSSI 1253, and related guidelines.
  • Experience in coordinating and managing risk to information systems on behalf of Authorization Officials.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance and be available to work on-site regularly.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with cloud technology environments.
  • Experience with RMF 2.0 authorization processes.
  • Completion of ACAS certification training.
  • Current possession of DoD 8570 IAT Level III baseline certifications.
  • Experience with SAFe methodologies.
  • A proactive mindset with a drive for innovation and improvement.
  • Proven ability to coordinate effectively between technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Willingness to work outside of standard business hours if necessary.
