Job Summary

The Patient Care Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring an exceptional patient experience and supporting the smooth operation of our prosthetics and orthotics medical practice. This dynamic individual will be responsible for greeting and registering patients, compiling comprehensive chart documentation, and providing administrative support to our clinical and technical staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Respond to patient inquiries, direct calls to relevant personnel, or initiate triage emails for clinical staff to address.
  • Schedule appointments, verify patient demographics, referral sources, and insurance information in our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the EMR, adhering to company policies.
  • Initiate documentation requests from physicians and other healthcare providers, ensuring timely inclusion in patient medical records.
  • Verify patient insurance benefits, communicate relevant payment and billing policies, and collect patient responsibility payments.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment for patients and visitors, adhering to infection control and safety procedures.
  • Provide administrative support to the practice, striving for a paperless work environment and efficient use of technology.
  • Assist in marketing efforts to build relationships with local referral sources.
  • Maintain professional relationships with patients, referral sources, clinical, and non-clinical employees.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development courses to maintain product and administrative technical knowledge.

Work Environment

This role operates in a professional office environment, utilizing standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to talk or hear, frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach/pull with hands and arms, bend, and squat.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 1-2 years of medical office experience preferred, utilizing EMR systems or equivalent skill set.
  • Experience working in the healthcare industry preferred.
