Job Summary

EDF Renewables North America is seeking an experienced Wind Technician to join our team. As a Wind Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing wind turbines, ensuring they operate efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on wind turbines, including preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Operate and care for company property and equipment in an efficient and safe manner.
  • Change gearbox oil in a designated area or wind field.
  • Grease and torque wind turbines.
  • Service turbines based on the type of turbine (manufacturer) in multiple wind fields.
  • Perform status checks, including clearing error codes on turbines and repairing problems.
  • Replace mechanical components.
  • Service blade and hub components as required by turbine type.
  • Complete daily work orders, time cards, and other required paperwork for the specific project/assignment.
Requirements
  • High school or equivalent.
  • Experience and/or training on Vestas Turbines is preferred.
  • Preferred knowledge of basic circuits and electrical fundamentals.
  • Experience in working with high voltage.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret schematics.
  • Able to demonstrate some basic computer knowledge.
  • Will follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have a flexible schedule, able to be on call and work some weekends.
  • Successfully complete and pass GWO (Global Wind Organization) safety and technical training program following offer acceptance.
Working Conditions

Wind Technicians spend 100% of their time in the field, excluding safety, supervisor, and scheduled training exercises. Wind Technicians work in teams and are provided a company vehicle (service truck) in which they carry the required tools and parts necessary to perform repairs and/or maintenance on turbines in multiple wind fields on any given day. Generally, Service Technicians work in extreme and adverse weather conditions.
