Job OverviewPosition: Logistics Coordinator

Summary:

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing the clerical and physical activities associated with the dispatch of goods and the receipt of incoming shipments within the organization. This role adheres to established protocols for routine tasks and seeks guidance from supervisors for non-standard issues. The incumbent may oversee and coordinate the efforts of other personnel involved in the shipping and receiving processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Shipping responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that orders are accurately fulfilled by cross-referencing items and quantities against shipping documents.
  • Verifying that shipments are appropriately packaged, labeled with shipping details, and loaded onto transport vehicles.
  • Maintaining accurate records of shipped goods, including manifests and bills of lading.

Receiving responsibilities include:

  • Confirming the accuracy of incoming shipments by comparing unloaded items and quantities against relevant documentation.
  • Inspecting for any damaged goods and ensuring proper identification for routing within the organization.
  • Documenting received goods accurately.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in supply chain management and warehouse operations.

Ability to operate pick-up trucks and material handling equipment.

Familiarity with warehouse management systems and supply sources relevant to logistics operations.

Experience in managing shipping and receiving tasks, including the preparation and dispatch of mail and parcels through various carriers.

Physical capability to perform tasks that require walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and working in various positions.

Competence in completing forms and addressing labels, including transaction accountability reports.

Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. A high school diploma or GED is required.
  2. At least two years of experience in supply or inventory management is necessary.
  3. Knowledge of shipping and receiving operations is essential.
  4. Valid license to operate government-owned vehicles.
