Role Description
The Wellness Program Facilitator is tasked with conducting group classes in a secure, enjoyable, and supportive atmosphere that encourages member participation and wellness. This role involves leading Group Exercise sessions, imparting specific skills related to each class format, while ensuring the health and safety of all participants.
Qualifications
- Group Exercise Instructor for HIIT, Strength Training, Bootcamp.
- Current CPR certification.
- Foundations of YMCA Group Exercise or equivalent certifications from recognized organizations such as ACE, AFAA, or ACSM.
- Ability to maintain certifications as required, with any costs incurred for non-Y certifications being the responsibility of the staff member.
- Strong personal values and effective communication skills.
- Prior experience in fitness instruction is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Foster a welcoming atmosphere by greeting members warmly and personally.
- Design and conduct exercise sessions across various fitness disciplines, including aerobics, yoga, circuit training, and weight training, utilizing effective teaching strategies to engage all participants.
- Deliver professional and program-specific skills in accordance with class descriptions.
- Provide corrective feedback to members on exercise techniques to ensure safety and effectiveness.
- Encourage community building among participants by facilitating connections.
- Establish positive relationships with members, offering motivational support to assist them in achieving their health goals.
- Promote member involvement and identify potential volunteers.
- Respond promptly and courteously to member inquiries and needs.
- Prepare and oversee class equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and reporting any issues to a supervisor.
- Inform participants about program and class guidelines as necessary.
- Distribute informational materials and gather feedback from participants after each session.
- Track attendance for each class conducted.
- Complete additional tasks and reports as needed.
