Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our Samaritan Healthcare team. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients, processing specimens, and maintaining accurate records.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture, arterial puncture, heel stick, or capillary puncture techniques.
  2. Process specimens, including centrifugation and storage, to ensure accurate test results.
  3. Verify patient identification and maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Assist Medical Technologists with other duties as needed, including entering physician orders and retrieving test results.
  5. Rotate among different Samaritan Healthcare facilities as needed, adapting to changing shift and hour requirements.
  6. Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to stay current with industry trends.
  7. Ensure a safe work environment by following safety protocols and policies, including infection control and safe lifting practices.
Requirements
  1. High school diploma or equivalent required; certificate of completion from an accredited Phlebotomy education program preferred.
  2. Washington State Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification required within 3 months of hire.
  3. Minimum of one year hospital experience preferred; experience with computers and EPIC LIS program a plus.
  4. Current CPR certification - Healthcare Provider (HCP) level required.

Physical Requirements
  1. Occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
  2. Excessive bending over.
  3. Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, healthcare professionals, patients, and/or family, and the public.
