Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team at Samaritan Healthcare.

Job Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant will assist licensed Registered Nurses in providing basic patient care, adhering to the generic structure standards and Washington State's Laws Relating to Nursing Care and Health Care Assistants.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
  2. Provide accurate and consistent inventory/ordering of supplies using Meditech.
  3. Assist nursing staff/units with clerical functions, intra-inter-departmental communications, and other duties as assigned.
  4. Perform basic duties/responsibilities such as bathing patients, incontinent toileting care, vital signs, weights, dietary assistance, intake and output, mobility assistance, stable transport, turning and positioning, incentive spirometer/cough and deep breathing, oral suction, maintaining oxygen delivery, bowel care, OB peri-care, Cardiac/Apnea monitor maintenance, assist with basic procedures, and specimen collection.
  5. Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in the field of expertise.
  6. Ensure no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies.
  7. Ensure self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.
  8. Ensure the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization's values.
  9. Conduct self in a professional manner and ensure personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.
Requirements
  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Current Washington State Certified Nursing Assistant certification.
  3. Current Washington State Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification.
  4. Current CNA experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Minimum one year of CNA experience preferred for specialty nursing departments.
  5. Knowledge of medical terminology.
  6. Current CPR certification – Healthcare Provider (HCP) level.
Physical Requirements
  1. Occasional or prolonged standing, sitting, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, crouching, pushing, and pulling.
  2. Manual dexterity, ability to lift/carry up to 10 pounds (supplies and equipment). Manual dexterity of hands and feet to ambulate 8 to 12 hours per shift.
  3. Physical strength to perform CPR (bed/floor), lift and push/pull 60 to 300 pounds (with assistance) as often as 20 times per 8 to 12 hours and perform constant walking, twisting, turning, and stretching maneuvers in patient care and use of equipment.
  4. Good reading eyesight. Is able to see clearly 20 feet or more, to judge distance and space relationships, and to see peripherally.
  5. Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients, and/or family, and the public.
