We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our Samaritan Healthcare team. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients, processing specimens, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities- Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture, arterial puncture, heel stick, or capillary puncture techniques.
- Process specimens, including centrifugation and storage, to ensure accurate test results.
- Verify patient identification and maintain accurate records to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist Medical Technologists with other duties as needed, including entering physician orders and retrieving test results.
- Rotate among different Samaritan Healthcare facilities as needed, adapting to changing shift and hour requirements.
- Maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to stay current with industry trends.
- Ensure a safe work environment by following safety protocols and policies, including infection control and safe lifting practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; certificate of completion from an accredited Phlebotomy education program preferred.
- Washington State Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Minimum of one year hospital experience preferred; experience with computers and EPIC LIS program a plus.
- Current CPR certification - Healthcare Provider (HCP) level required.
- Critical thinking skills: seeks resources for direction, performs independent problem-solving, and exercises safe judgment in decision-making.
- Accountability: performs actions that demonstrate accountability, exercises safe judgment in decision-making, and practices within legal and ethical guidelines.
- Customer care: demonstrates competency in ability to care for customers/patients across the age continuum.
- Occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
- Excessive bending over.
- Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, healthcare professionals, patients, and the public.
