Experimental Quantum Research Physicist

We are seeking a highly skilled Experimental Quantum Research Physicist to join our team at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a member of our team, you will contribute to cutting-edge research in quantum science and technology.
Key Responsibilities:- Propose and lead independent research projects focused on novel quantum devices, controls, or characterization techniques.
- Collaborate with other APL staff to identify emerging challenges with quantum solutions.
- Support ongoing programs in quantum information science by making immediate contributions to efforts that implement quantum characterization, control, and mitigation strategies in superconducting qubit systems.
- PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- 1+ years of post-doctoral (or equivalent) experimental experience with qubit systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven record of research accomplishments and publications in the field of quantum science.
- Ability to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by start date and ultimately obtain a TS/SCI+poly level clearance.
- Significant experience modeling multi-level, multi-qubit, and/or light-matter interactions.
- Record of significant contributions on projects pursuing highly sophisticated objectives.
- Experience collaborating closely with theorists.
- Active TS/SCI+poly security clearance.
