Job Title: Early Intervention Teacher of the Deaf

Clarke Schools for Hearing and Speech is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Intervention Teacher of the Deaf to join our team. As an Early Intervention Teacher, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality services to infants and toddlers who are deaf or hard of hearing and their families.

Job Summary:

The Early Intervention Teacher will be responsible for planning and executing parent coaching therapy sessions and center-based group classroom lessons, using listening and spoken language strategies to promote auditory, speech, and language skills in infants and toddlers who are deaf or hard of hearing. The successful candidate will have a strong background in deaf education, listening and spoken language, and child development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a caseload of students and provide parent coaching therapy sessions in the natural environment or center-based programming in accordance with a child's Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP)
  • Facilitate parent and child interactions with a curriculum that is child-centered, based on Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards with basic principles of child development
  • Create an environment that fosters independence, confidence, creativity, respect for materials, and a conducive learning environment
  • Coach and guide parents in a way that makes them feel comfortable, respected, and supported to learn and engage listening and spoken language strategies to parent their child with hearing loss
  • Support parents and families in the use and understanding of their child's assistive listening devices and provide basic troubleshooting when necessary
  • Be a facilitator of language learning experiences, a diagnostician in collecting, recording, and reporting data, and observe interactions as they may relate to child development
  • Observe, record, and report child and family progress through qualitative and quantitative measures
  • Complete and participate in quarterly and annual report meetings, IFSP meetings, and aid in the transition process through the creation of an initial Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
  • Collaborate with services providers inside and outside of Clarke Schools to ensure families are provided with a valued team approach to Early Intervention services
  • Create and implement age-appropriate auditory, speech, and language goals through a student's IFSP
  • Participate in Clarke's Toddler/Early Toddler Group center-based program through lesson planning, material preparations, and collaboration in a co-instructing model
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree certification as a Teacher of the Deaf with training in listening and spoken language preferred
  • Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate in area of Deaf Education or ability to obtain
  • Pennsylvania State Clearances - Child Abuse, FBI, Criminal Background Check
