Position Summary:

The Facilities Custodial Manager oversees the cleanliness and overall presentation of all facilities at Dixie Technical College. This pivotal role ensures that the performance of custodial staff aligns with the college's standards, fostering an environment conducive to learning and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a respectful and inclusive atmosphere for all students and staff, regardless of their background, and actively encourage a culture of diversity and acceptance on campus.
  • Directly supervise custodial staff, ensuring the maintenance of cleanliness and sanitation across buildings, offices, classrooms, and laboratories.
  • Develop a cohesive team of custodial personnel by training employees in effective cleaning methods and equipment usage, while evaluating their performance to meet established standards.
  • Schedule work activities and adjust workloads to accommodate both planned and unplanned absences, as well as special custodial projects.
  • Provide leadership continuity by stepping in for other Custodial Leads when necessary.
  • Manage electronic timekeeping, approve time-off requests, and cover for absent custodians as needed.
  • Inspect custodial work to ensure compliance with quality standards and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Ensure custodial staff have the necessary supplies and equipment, managing inventory and requesting replacements as needed.
  • Complete work orders promptly and maintain accurate records of cleaning supplies.
  • Contribute to the department's success by performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Essential skills include supervisory and management capabilities, effective communication, and the ability to train new staff. Cultural competence and respect for diversity are also crucial.
  • Participate in the hiring process for custodial staff and make recommendations regarding employment decisions.
  • Maintain accurate administrative records related to custodial personnel, including monitoring attendance and reviewing timekeeping documents.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to inspect facilities, which may involve climbing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds regularly.
