Job Summary

The Custodian - Facilities Maintenance position at Dixie Technical College is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and overall appearance of all college facilities in St. George, Utah. The part-time custodian will work a night shift four hours daily from 8 pm to midnight, Monday through Thursday, and 6 pm to 10 pm on Friday. The schedule may include an occasional Saturday.

The custodian will be responsible for ensuring that students, faculty, and staff are able to work and learn in spaces that promote professionalism. This includes cleaning and maintaining carpets, hard surface flooring, drinking fountains, restrooms, break rooms, offices, and entrance areas.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least six months of custodial experience. They will be able to understand verbal and printed instructions, bend, sit, climb stairs, and move about, and safely use cleaning equipment and supplies.

The position pays $18 an hour and is exempt under the Fair Standards Labor Act. The State of Utah is an equal-opportunity employer and hiring is done without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, or disability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and maintain carpets and hard surface flooring
  • Ensure drinking fountains are clean and free of watermarks
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and offices
  • Remove trash and recyclables daily
  • Perform spot cleaning of carpets as needed
  • Replenish toiletry supplies and hand soap as needed
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform cleaning operations for up to four hours per day

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • At least six months of custodial experience
  • Ability to understand verbal and printed instructions
  • Ability to bend, sit, climb stairs, and move about
  • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies
