Job Summary

The Accounting Coordinator is responsible for overseeing one or more accounting functions of an organization. This position is governed by state and federal laws, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and agency/institution policy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides general supervision to a subordinate professional, para-professional, and administrative support staff engaged in accounting activities.
  • Monitors budgets and expenditures, provides approvals for transactions based on available budget and sponsoring agency restrictions.
  • Establishes and maintains general ledgers on departmental operations, calculates and allocates funds for new and existing accounts or projects.
  • Prepares spreadsheets and database files from automated information systems, monitors purchasing procedures of departmental personnel.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and prepares reports designed to reflect aspects of the organization's fiscal status.
Requirements
  • The formal education equivalent of a bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • Three years of experience in accounting, financial management, or a related area, including one year in a supervisory capacity.
