Overview
Church World Service (CWS) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program Officer for Training and Capacity Building to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing training and support to local and national refugee resettlement staff in utilizing Refugee Welcome Collective and Refugee Housing Solutions resources.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver training programs, including webinars, self-paced e-learning courses, online certificate courses, and in-person training.
- Create and disseminate learning resources, such as guides, toolkits, and one-pagers for local and national resettlement agency staff.
- Provide virtual consultation and guidance to local and national resettlement agency staff in response to technical assistance requests.
- Lead the development of multimedia resources, including e-learning modules and videos.
- Track user feedback, challenges, opportunities, learning resource needs, and learning resource issues.
- Update training and program supports based on user and stakeholder feedback.
- Complete detailed notes for all training and technical assistance sessions provided.
- Contribute to monthly and quarterly reports.
- Stay up-to-date with community sponsorship program models, best practices, and policies in the US and globally.
- Work in close collaboration with partners and experts to create and deliver high-quality training, technical assistance, and program supports.
Qualifications:
- Lived experience with forced displacement and refugee resettlement is welcome and encouraged.
- Experience implementing community sponsorship programs and an understanding of affordable housing development policies is required.
- Knowledge of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program and ORR programs and benefits.
- Minimum of two years of experience developing and delivering training and learning materials.
- Proficiency in adult learning and training methods.
- Ability to develop and deliver engaging training and technical assistance materials, including high-quality learning resources.
- Ability to maintain a high-performance standard with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge and experience in working with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and database software is essential; experience with remote training and learning management systems preferred.

- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent project and data management skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to manage a large and diverse workload under pressure and with competing priorities.
- Ability to maintain a high-performance standard with attention to detail.
- Experience in general office work, processing information and materials, and maintaining records and files.
- Fluency in a language spoken by refugee populations a plus.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and willingness to support CWS' Platform on Racial Justice as a CWS employee required.
- Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills; ability to work effectively with partners and teams.
- Ability to always conduct oneself in a professional and courteous manner.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and minimum of 5 years work experience required.
Special Requirements:
- Ability to maintain secure and appropriate personal work environment for day-to-day work.
- Access to strong and reliable internet access.
- Ability to adhere to CWS data security policies and protect sensitive and personally identifiable information.
- Regular work hours must span core business hours 10AM-4PM Eastern time.
- Close proximity to U.S. airport and ability to travel to attend CWS and external meetings, conferences, and other in-person engagements.
- Must use CWS-provided equipment such as laptop and cell phone.
