Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol and Secure Campus: Conduct regular patrols of the campus to identify and respond to potential security threats, ensuring the safety and security of the campus community.
  • Enforce Campus Rules and Regulations: Enforce university policies and procedures, including parking regulations, noise ordinances, and other campus rules and regulations.
  • Investigate Incidents: Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, including accidents, crimes, and other security-related incidents.
  • Provide Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, fires, and other critical incidents.
  • Collaborate with Law Enforcement: Work closely with local law enforcement agencies to ensure a coordinated response to security threats and incidents.
  • Participate in Training and Development: Participate in regular training and development programs to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as crisis management, emergency response, and security protocols.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Law Enforcement Experience: One year of experience in law enforcement or a closely related field is required.
  • Valid Driver's License: A valid California Class C driver's license with a good driving record is required.
  • Physical Examination: A physical examination demonstrating physical ability to perform the essential functions of the job is required.
  • Background Check: A satisfactory completion of a background check, including a criminal records check, is required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic POST Certificate: Possession of a Basic POST Certificate or higher is preferred.
  • PC 832 Course: Possession of a PC 832 course is preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification: CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
Working Conditions

The Public Safety Officer will work in a field and standard office setting, with regular exposure to outdoor environments and varying weather conditions. The position requires the ability to lift up to 100 pounds and to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
