Job Summary

The University of Redlands seeks a highly skilled Public Safety Dispatcher to join our team. As a key member of our Public Safety department, you will be responsible for receiving, assimilating, and dispatching calls for service from various locations on campus to on-duty Public Safety Officers.

This is a critical role that requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a strong understanding of emergency response procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and respond to emergency calls from campus locations
  • Assimilate and dispatch gathered information to Public Safety Officers
  • Communicate with emergency personnel, including the Redlands Police Department and Redlands Fire Department
  • Enter activity logs, parking permits, and citations into computer systems
  • Locate and relay information requested by officers
  • Contribute to a team effort by accomplishing related duties as needed
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent supplemented with one year of course work in public relations or dispatching
  • One-year related experience in a similar position
  • Completion of a POST Public Safety Dispatcher Course is desirable
  • A comprehensive background check is required
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a standard dispatch center office setting, with duties performed in an office environment while sitting at a desk or computer workstation or in meetings. The position may require after-hours and emergency response.

The incumbent will regularly sit for long periods, walk short distances on a regular basis, and use hands and fingers to operate an electronic keyboard or other office machines.
