Job Summary

The Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration is seeking a highly qualified Physician (Urologist-Section Chief) to lead the Urology Section at the Central Texas VA Health Care System in Temple, Texas. As a key member of the medical team, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, providing administrative leadership, and contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Provide medical leadership and direction to the Urology Section, ensuring the delivery of excellent patient care and meeting compliance standards.
  • Perform administrative duties, including reviewing and triaging outpatient and inpatient consultations, participating in ward/ICU rounds, and completing informed consents.
  • Follow each patient through the full continuum of care process, including admissions, discharges, and performing histories and physicals when necessary.
  • Responsible for educating patients and family members, providing a monthly call schedule, and participating in the rotation of on-call duties.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures regarding medical documentation, ensuring the most effective delivery of care while meeting and exceeding compliance, Joint Commission, and VA Central Office performance measure standards.
  • Train and provide supervision for medical students and residents in all aspects of their surgery rotations.
Requirements
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or be eligible for citizenship.
  • Must be a Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Must have a current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Must have completed residency training, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
  • Must be proficient in spoken and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Board Certified in Urology.
  • Ability to provide medical opinions in medical specialties.
  • Operative surgeon with experience in robot surgery.
  • 3-5 years of medical facility leadership experience.
