We are looking for a highly skilled Genetic Counselor to become a vital part of our Medical and Molecular Genetics division at Indiana University Health.

  • Full Time, Day Shift
    • Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts
    • No night, weekend, or on-call duties
  • 100% outpatient care
  • Be part of a large, established group consisting of 14 physicians, 40 genetic counselors, 3 advanced practice providers, and 7 genetic counseling assistants
  • Engagement in research initiatives and supervision of students is encouraged

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver genetic counseling and testing services for patients and families, including the identification, ordering, and coordination of genetic laboratory tests and other diagnostic evaluations as necessary for genetic assessments.
  • Integrate results from genetic laboratory tests and other diagnostic evaluations with personal and family medical histories to evaluate and communicate genetic risk factors and their clinical implications.
  • Provide education to healthcare professionals, patients, and families regarding genetic disorders, treatment alternatives, risk factors, and available community resources.
  • Refer patients to specialists when required.
  • May instruct or supervise genetic counseling students and oversee Genetic Counselors I & II.

Qualifications:

  • A Master's degree in Genetic Counseling or Medical Genetics is required.
  • Must reside in the state of Indiana.
  • 7-10 years of clinical genetic counseling experience is necessary, ideally with exposure to various genetic subspecialties.
  • Must maintain a current Genetic Counselor's license in Indiana.
  • Board Certification by ABMG/ABGC is required or must be board eligible within one year of employment.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office are required.
