Job Description:

The Adoption & Foster Team Lead at Animal Welfare League of Arlington Virginia, Inc. is responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of the Adoption & Foster teams. This full-time position requires working weekends, holidays, and evenings. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working with both people and animals. The salary range for this position is $23.00 per hour.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee operational processes for the Adoption & Foster teams, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Train and coach team members and volunteers to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Facilitate adoption and foster placements, prioritizing animal welfare and customer satisfaction.
  • Create and manage department schedules to ensure adequate staffing and resource allocation.
  • Develop and implement adoption and foster standard operating procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with other departments to promote adoptions and fostering, fostering a culture of teamwork and collaboration.

Requirements:
  • 2+ years of professional experience in an animal welfare organization or animal care setting.
  • Knowledge of animal care, veterinary medicine, and animal behavior.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite, with experience in data management and analysis.
  • Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays, with the ability to work varied shifts.
Physical & Mental Demands:
Requires manual dexterity, exposure to various animals, and the ability to lift heavy items. Must have normal range of hearing and eyesight and be comfortable around different types of animals.
